    Life in International City

    Living here

Studios and one-bedrooms are in low-rise buildings grouped into themed clusters; the England cluster, for example, borrows from traditional London architecture. Most clusters have small grocery shops and restaurants at street level, and the Central District adds pools, gyms, parks and shopping. It is functional rather than glamorous, with a short run to the airport.

    Eating & going out

The clusters are known for small, informal restaurants, especially in the China cluster, where regional Chinese cooking is easy to find. Dragon Mart, next door, is a vast market for Chinese-made goods of every kind. For waterfront dining or a big mall, Dubai Festival City and Dubai Creek Harbour are around 15 minutes away.

    Getting around

There is no metro yet: the Blue Line, due to open in 2029, will add stations in International City. Until then, buses link the district to Deira City Centre, Silicon Oasis and Festival City, but taxis are quicker. Ras Al Khor Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road make DXB about 15 minutes away and Downtown around 20.
